LAWRENCEVILLE — Repaving work through downtown Lawrenceville could cause traffic jams during the next two weeks.
Work begins Thursday on the $1.8 million project to mill and resurface more than 3.5 miles of Ga. Highway 20 through the county street, transportation officials announced.
Weather permitting, crews from C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. plan to work from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night except for Saturday, although daytime hours are allowed on the project.
The work, which spans from south of Hurricane Shoals Road to just west of Park Place/Plantation Boulevard, includes parking areas along Ga. 20. Parking will not be allowed during work hours, a press release said.
The contractor expets to complete the work by Thursday, Aug. 8.
