Former employee charged with murder of Duluth couple

DULUTH —A former employee of the Duluth couple stabbed to death Saturday has been charged with their murder.

Ki Song Kim, 45, was booked at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and charged with two counts each of murder and aggravated assault. Gwinnett County police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said that Kim was tied to the homicide of Sun Hee Choi, 59, and husband Young Chan Choi, 63, believed killed inside Worrall Hill Way home.

Smith said that detectives had “developed probable cause” to arrest Kim but was otherwise tightlipped.

“Additional details of this investigation will not be released at this time as it may compromise the investigation,” Smith said.

The Chois, U.S. citizens and owners of a Norcross restaurant supply business called Best Supply, were found dead inside their home just before 10 p.m. Saturday. According to arrest warrants for Kim, the couple was killed via “stabbing and cutting” sometime between 9:20 and 9:48 p.m.

Kim’s booking sheet lists him as an employee of Best Supply. His direct relationship with the Chois was unclear. His listed address, an apartment off Satellite Blvd., was just over a mile from the Chois’ home.

Attempts to reach the Choi family and Best Supply were unsuccessful Tuesday.

Witnesses reportedly told police they saw a white passenger car at the scene, as well as an unknown male approaching the front door with a box of apples. A possible motive was not released.

Kim is being held without bond.
