Teen hurt after fall from tree near Yellow River

LILBURN — Gwinnett County firefighters rescued a teen Monday afternoon who fell from a tree near the Yellow River.

Fire department spokesman Lt. Colin Rhoden said that crews reported to the area near Stone Mountain Highway and Jessica Daron Court in Lilburn at about 2:10 p.m., responding to a 911 call stating that a “teenager fell from a tree near the … location by the river.” Emergency personnel “quickly got to the scene and to the patient,” traversing steep terrain and calling on the swiftwater rescue team to assist around the river.

“Crews brought the teen to safety and released the patient to an adult family member,” Rhoden said.

The teen suffered a dislocated shoulder. No other injuries were reported.
