Man surrenders following SWAT standoff

The Gwinnett County Police Department and the SWAT team were called to the September Morning Apartments in Norcross on Sunday afternoon following a domestic argument, police said.

"It appears that a domestic arguement escalated into a barricaded person situation," Gwinnett Police Cpl. T.R. Tobler said .

After several hours of negotiations, and evacuations to surrounding apartments, police said Eugene Clemons surrendered peacefully.

Tobler said Clemons has been charged with simple battery and pointing a pistol at another person. He said additional misdemeanor charges are pending.

There were no injuries incurred to Clemons or police.
