Richt, UGA coaches to speak in Gwinnett

University of Georgia head coach Mark Richt will be one of the guest speakers at UGA Day in Gwinnett County on Monday.

Richt along with basketball coach Mark Fox, new baseball coach Scott Stricklin and new president Jere W. Morehead will be the speakers at the event at the Gwinnett Center Grand Ballroom.

UGA Day Gwinnett will allow UGA alumni and friends to get the inside scoop on the Georgia Bulldogs’ upcoming season, hear the latest news from the University and learn more about how to get involved with other local UGA alumni.

Richt is entering his 13th season as head coach at Georgia. He has led the Bulldogs to SEC championships in 2002 and 2005. Georgia played in the SEC title game the last two seasons and was five yards away from winning the crown and beating defending national champion Alabama in 2012

Fox is entering his fifth season as UGA’s mens basketball coach, which includes a trip to the NCAA tournament in 2011.

Stricklin was hired as the head baseball coach in the spring after spending the last nine years at Kent State. Stricklin won five MAC tournament championships and reached the NCAA regionals five times, including a 2012 trip to the College World Series. Stricklin also served two years as a volunteer assistant at Georgia Tech and later three years as an assistant with the Yellow Jackets.

Morehead was named UGA’s school president in January, succeeding Michael Adams. Morehead previously served as a professor of Legal Studies at UGA’s Terry College of Business and the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.

The event is from 6-8 p.m. and is open to the public with registration costing $40, a reserved table of 10 costs $500 and children 6-and-under are free. Each ticket includes one buffet dinner.
