Lawrenceville library to offer free U.S. citizenship classes

LAWRENCEVILLE — For the next several weeks, the Gwinnett County Public Library is hosting free citizenship preparation classes at its Lawrenceville branch.

The classes begin Tuesday and run through Sept. 12 for those interested to learn the skills needed to pass the U.S. Citizenship Test.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., attendees will learn U.S. history, government, politics, civics, geography and customs. They will also be taught basic English skills necessary to pass the naturalization interview.

The things you will need for the courses include:

• Basic English skills

• Bring your permanent resident card to the first class

The classes are only offered for permanent residents who have applied or are going to apply to take the U.S. Citizenship Test.

There is no registration required to attend the classes, but it is recommended to be present for every class. The courses are conducted in English.

The Lawrenceville branch is located at 1001 Lawrenceville Highway in Lawrenceville.
