Additional drop-off locations added to school supply drive

DULUTH — Since June, the Georgia United Credit Union and Star 94 have asked the public to donate school supplies to locations in Gwinnett and metro Atlanta.

Recently, it added two other stories collecting the items: Carter’s and Osh Kosh B’Gosh.

Today through Aug. 9, the public is encouraged to drop off new school supplies or cash donations at either of the two offices located in Gwinnett or any of the other 14 locations in Georgia.

In the county, Georgia United is collecting food at its corporate office at 6705 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth and at its Gwinnett office at 2270 Satellite Blvd. in Duluth.

As for the retail stores, there is a Carter’s store at Sugarloaf Mills Mall and the Mall of Georgia Crossing, and location at Osh Kosh inside of the Mall of Georgia.

Some of the supplies needed include:

• Pencils, crayons, dry erase markers

• Tissues

• Hand sanitizer and soap

• Rulers

• Notebooks

• Glue sticks

• Calculators

• Three-ring binders

This year’s beneficiary is Atlanta Falcon Sean Weatherspoon’s nonprofit Spoonful of Hope, which will coordinate delivery of supplies to local Title 1 schools.

Someone should look into donating the boxes and boxes of new school supplies, markers etc. that Gwinnett county schools discard every year in the trash.
