Skylar's Run to benefit Boston, local special-needs schools

The seventh annual Skylar’s Run 5K and 10K qualifier returns to Suwanee Town Center Park and Greenway on Aug. 17 as a fundraiser for Boston Strong and Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett. The race is named for Skylar Gwin, who has muscular dystrophy and is pushed around the course in a wheelchair by his father Paul.

The 5K begins at 7:30 a.m. and the 10K qualifier begins at 8:30 a.m. Runners can compete in both races for the Blimpie Challenge, a competition that gives competitors a prize pack and makes them eligible for combined time awards. The Blimpie Fit Fest Expo at the event also will feature a variety of vendors.

Costs are $25 for the 5K or 10K races, $10 for the Blimpie Fun Run or $30 for the Blimpie Fitness Challenge. For more information, go to www.averagejoesracing.com/skylarsrun.html.
