Firefighters rescue couple on Chattahoochee

NORCROSS — A man and woman were rescued from the Chattahoochee River on Thursday afternoon by swift water rescue crews from the Gwinnett County and Johns Creek Fire Departments.

The incident began at about 4:20 p.m. when an inflatable raft appeared to get stuck on a rock in the water near the Fulton-Gwinnett County line and Jones Bridge Park. Crews arrived about 10 minutes later, and the man and woman were rescued about 10 minutes after the crews arrived.

The crews used two boats, and also assisted a second man who stood on rocks nearby.

Gwinnett Fire Lt. Colin Rhoden said no injuries were reported and everyone appeared OK.
