Atlanta Silverbacks Park will host North American Soccer League Soccer Bowl 2013 on Saturday, Nov. 9, the league announced Wednesday morning.
The annual championship game of the NASL will crown the overall 2013 winner when the Spring Season champion Atlanta Silverbacks take on the team that emerges on top of the standings from the Fall Season, which runs from Aug. 3 through Nov. 2. The kickoff time for the game is to be confirmed.
"Silverbacks Park on Nov. 9 is going to be the hottest ticket in town when the top two teams in the NASL battle for Soccer Bowl 2013," said NASL commissioner Bill Peterson. "The atmosphere there is already electric for regular season games, so with a championship on the line and the stands packed with fans, soccer fever in Atlanta will reach new heights."
The Silverbacks, led by coach Brian Haynes and technical director Eric Wynalda, won the right to host Soccer Bowl by securing top spot in the NASL Spring Season standings on the final day of the campaign.
"Our team played incredibly well all season long, and their reward was a NASL Spring Season Championship," said Silverbacks general manager Andy Smith. "The great thing about us hosting NASL Soccer Bowl 2013 in November is that our fans now get a reward too. The way they support us at every home game is unbelievable, so to be able to repay them with such a phenomenal soccer event in our own stadium is something truly special."
Tickets to NASL Soccer Bowl 2013 are currently available for purchase, but only through an exclusive pre-sale for current Silverbacks season ticket holders and fans who choose to purchase a 2013 Fall Season Ticket Package (includes a ticket to NASL Soccer Bowl 2013). Fall Season Ticket Packages start as low as $97, and can be purchased over the phone at 404-969-4900. The date when tickets will be available to the general public is to be determined.
