DULUTH — A school supply fundraiser is scheduled for Aug. 2 to help support underprivileged children in the area.
The event, which is scheduled from 4 to 10:30 p.m. in downtown Duluth, will feature a showing of “Despicable Me,” as well as inflatables, games and activities.
The city also will be collecting school supplies for children in need in conjunction with the Gwinnett County division of family and child services.
There will be a fee for the inflatables, but there will be a discount with the donation of school supplies.
For each item of school supplies provided, guests will receive one ticket, with up to five tickets available per child. Those who bring five items can either receive the tickets or get a $5 coupon.
According to its website, the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) is responsible for welfare and employment support, protecting children, foster care and other services to strengthen families.
