NORCROSS — A man was shot outside his Norcross area home early Friday morning during an armed robbery.
After a shift at work, Bobby Swanger, 25, was returning to his Traymore Drive home at about 4:15 a.m., when he was approached by a man pointing a gun at him and asking for his wallet, Gwinnett County Police spokesman Cpl. Ed Ritter said.
As the man reached for his wallet, the suspect shot him in the shoulder. He was shot again, ths time in the leg, as he ran toward his house, Ritter said.
While Swanger was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, police began a search for the suspect, who left in an unknown direction, Ritter added.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, wearing a white T-shirt and dark shorts. In his early 20s and approximately 5’11 and 210 pounds, the man had light facial hair and was wearing a large, dark-colored hat, Ritter said.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that the suspect is connected to several other armed robberies in recent weeks.
Police are asking that anyone with information about the incident or the suspect call investigators at 770-513-5319 or 770-513-5300.
