If you want to watch a movie this weekend but don’t want to be cooped up inside a dark theater, you have plenty of options to enjoy the cinema outdoors.
Several local venues are staging outdoor screenings this weekend. But instead of stadium seating, these options all require bring-your-own seating.
Today, events are scheduled in Grayson and Buford.
With Anchor Church as the sponsor of the Grayson event, “Wreck-It Ralph” will be shown at dusk, with free inflatables and attractions starting at 7 p.m. in the city park.
Moviegoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets, but popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase for a quarter or 50 cents.
Another animated feature, “Toy Story 3,” will be presented at the new Buford Community Center’s amphitheater. The Cinema Under the Stars will begin at 9 p.m.
On Saturday, theater buffs can go to the nearby Mall of Georgia, also in Buford, to take in a flick.
The evening begins with activities and concessions at 5 p.m., with the Three Way Street band performing at 6:30 p.m. The film “The Croods” will begin at dusk.
Also on Saturday, Stone Mountain Village’s Movies on Main event will be a back-to-school bash, with the movie “Akeelah & the Bee” shown on a 36-foot screen.
