One of the first titles to benefit from the new 4K digital transfer technology, this landmark 1963 film based on the first novel by William Golding remains a tour-de-force 50 years after its release. Loaded with literary allegory, political symbolism and social metaphors, it was largely improvised by child actors that play students at a British school that survive a plane crash and must fend for themselves on a tropical island without any adult supervision. Throttling and totally unforgiving.
