Truitt commits to Auburn football program

Former Peachtree Ridge football player Stanton Truitt, now at Monroe Area, committed to Auburn on Wednesday.

The wide receiver chose the Tigers over offers from Florida, North Carolina, UCLA and several other Division I-BCS schools.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Truitt rushed for 1,448 yards and 19 touchdowns last year as a quarterback for Monroe. He also threw for 812 yards and nine TDs. Truitt played at Peachtree Ridge as a sophomore during the 2011 season before transferring.

Truitt is a four-star recruit by ESPN.com and is the No. 17 ranked player in Georgia.
