Gwinnett Daily Post
File Photo Promoters of Sugardaddie.com have tried to convince Sugar Hill officials to change the city's name as a promotional tool.
Northern Gwinnett has made an impression on nerds.
NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy website, included three local towns in its list of best towns in Georgia for young families.
With Sugar Hill’s No. 3 ranking, the town bests two of its neighbors, with Suwanee ranked No. 6 and Buford coming it at No. 9.
The website analyzed towns across Georgia, looking into its public school rating, average home value, cost of homeownership, average income and economic growth.
“Sugar Hill stands out for its superb educational system, unique location and recreational opportunities. Sugar Hill’s schools earned a near-perfect rating from GreatSchools and it’s no surprise why. North Gwinnett Middle, for example, last year outperformed the entire state of Georgia on the Grade 8 Writing Assessment,” Mike Anderson, the analyst who conducted the study, said of Sugar Hill.
