Sugar Hill fireworks now celebrating back to school

SUGAR HILL -- Sugar Hill's Independence Day fireworks, rescheduled due to rain, will now celebrate "Back to School with a Bang."

E.E. Robinson Park will host live music, inflatable rides, a movie and, according to city officials, "the best fireworks in Gwinnett County" from 6:30 p.m. to midnight Aug. 3. Concessions and food will also be available, and visitors are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnic baskets -- but no alcoholic beverages.

Music will begin at 7:15 p.m. and feature Peggie Hoskins & Soulshine, as well as John Mellencamp and Journey cover band The Idol Kings. Fireworks will begin at 9:45 p.m. The evening will end with an outdoor showing of "The Lorax."

All festivities are the same as previously scheduled for the city's July 3 fireworks, which were canceled due to inclement weather.

E.E. Robinson Park is located at 850 Level Creek Road in Sugar Hill. Parking and shuttle service will also be available at Sugar Hill Church, located at 5091 Ga. Highway 20.
