LAWRENCEVILLE -- Do you have a favorite Lawrenceville business or individual? If so, you can put in a nomination for the sixth annual Lawrenceville Golden Hammer Awards.
According to the application, the program was created to celebrate local community investment, revitalization and engagement. The event was "designed to recognize individuals and businesses for renovation, remodel and construction projects that enhance Lawrenceville's aesthetics and contribute to its overall vision for a superior quality of life."
The categories include outstanding residential property (that must be publicly visible to a major city artery), outstanding residential neighborhood beautification project, outstanding commercial downtown project (with three winners), outstanding commercial city limit project (three winners), outstanding new construction/renovation for one small and one large business, an honorary "build-up" Lawrenceville award and a volunteer of the year.

The deadline for the nominations is Friday. Winners will be announced Aug. 29 at the Gwinnett Medical Center's Resource Center in Lawrenceville.
