Sheriff's Office schedules obstacle course fundraiser

LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office is putting on a "Jail Break Challenge Obstacle Run" to raise money for its Honor Guard and Beat the Heat Team.

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. on July 27 on a two and a half mile trail and course around the wooded outskirts of the Gwinnett jail. The obstacle course includes 16 stations that are typically used for deputy training.

Pre-registration for the event is available until July 21st on www.active.com

Participants can register as individuals or teams of four. The course includes a rock wall, rope climb, monkey bars, cargo net, pipe and log.Prizes will be awarded for catching "escaped inmates" along the route.

The Beat the Heat team teaches teenagers about the dangers of street racing, texting and driving and DUI.
