LAWRENCEVILLE — A gas leak shut down a major Lawrenceville road Friday afternoon.
At about 12:20 p.m., spokesman Lt. Colin Rhoden said crews were on scene of the "outside gas leak" at 377 West Pike Street, across from Old Norcross Road's dead-end intersection with the street that leads directly into downtown Lawrenceville.
West Pike Street was "shut down in all directions temporarily," Rhoden said, after emergency personnel discovered a leak in a two-inch natural gas line.
"Lawrenceville PD secured the area and shut down traffic in the area," Rhoden said. "Fire crews protected the area until the gas company could shut off gas to the area."
Fire crews also checked nearby businesses before giving the all clear sign.
