NORCROSS -- Job seekers can get some help, while talking to potential employers at a Georgia Department of Labor event next week.
The state agency's Gwinnett Career Center is sponsoring its Seventh Annual CareerFest Expo Thursday, July 18, along with Norcross Cooperative Ministries.
Scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church at 2500 Beaver Ruin Rd. in Norcross, the expo includes several workshops on resume-writing and other techniques used in a job search. Those who attend a What's in Your Toolbox? seminar at 9:15 a.m. will be the first allowed into the expo.
The event features a number of employers, educational institutions and resource agencies. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings, a press release said. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for job openings.
Other presentations include information on using social media to help in a job search, and Tamika Conde, project director for AARP, will address issues facing job seekers over the age of 50.
Among those expected to participate in the event are A Friend of the Family Staffing, AFLAC, Allied Barton Security Service, AT&T, Atlanta Electrical Contractors, Avon, Bobby Dodd Organization, Comcast-Cable, CSR-Support, Farmers Insurance Group, Fastenal Company, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Genuine Parts, Georgia Department of Driver Services, Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, Gwinnett County Public Schools-Transportation, Hire Dynamics, Legal Shield, Lowe's Home Centers, Manpower, Millennium Security Services, Perimeter Staffing Placements, Resolute, Spectrum Staffing, Staffing Advantage, Super H-Mart, The Impact Group, TRC Staffing and the Vet Center in Lawrenceville.
