LAWRENCEVILLE — A downtown Lawrenceville street will be closed for five weekdays, beginning July 11, as part of the construction of the city’s Heritage Trail.
Luckie Street — between Clayton and Chestnut streets — will be closed for the project, which includes preparation work for road improvements and storm water drainage as a prelude to the Lawrenceville Lawn construction later this year.
Weather permitting, the road will reopen Friday evening and remain open for the weekend. Then, the closure is scheduled to occur Monday through Wednesday next week.
“The Heritage Trail is a great addition to our downtown, supporting the city’s vision for preserving history and promoting excellence in the community,” Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson said. “We appreciate the support and cooperation of all our residents, citizens, partners, vendors and staff in helping us realize this project.”
Officials say more lane closures may be necessary in the future to complete the project.
