Gas leak closes Norcross road for nearly 4 hours

NORCROSS - Work crews ruptured a four-inch natural gas line in the middle of lunch time on Wednesday, but the incident didn’t cause any evacuations or injuries.

The incident happened at 3500 Engineering Drive, and Gwinnett County Fire and Police crews were dispatched at 12:25 p.m. They immediately closed the road to vehicles and pedestrians, and the Gwinnett County Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials team conducted air samples, Lt. Colin Rhoden said.

People in the building were sheltered while crews worked on the incident. The line was secured and shut down by the Atlanta Gas Light Company, and the roads were reopened at about 4 p.m.
