LILBURN -- Recent Parkview grad Jarrett Hood will still continue his baseball career in college, but at a different one from where he originally committed.
The 6-foot-1, 250-pound first baseman has now accepted a baseball scholarship from Jacksonville State University in Alabama after initially signing with Augusta State (now Georgia Regents University) earlier this year.
Hood was a first-team All-County selection by the Daily Post and was named an honorable mention on the USA Today High School Sports/American Family Insurance All-USA Georgia team as a senior this spring.
He led all of Gwinnett County with 11 home runs and 43 RBIs, to go along with a .371 batting average and an .804 slugging percentage in helping the Panthers to their fourth straight Region 8-AAAAAA championship and a berth in the Class AAAAAA state semifinals.
