Mill Creek's Beck picks Louisville

HOSCHTON -- The Daily Post's Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year has already figured out where she would like to continue her career in college.

Rising Mill Creek junior Maddie Beck has given a verbal commitment to attend the University of Louisville, becoming one of the first Gwinnett County girls players to commit to a major NCAA Division I program.

Beck was a major factor in the Hawks' big season this spring, as the sophomore midfielder scored 48 goals and added 25 assists, 65 draw controls, 37 caused turnovers and 17 groundballs.

Her leadership helped Mill Creek to a 19-2 record that included the Area 4-AAAAAA championship and becoming the first Gwinnett team to advance to the Class AAAAAA state semifinals.

Beck also became one of just 24 players chosen among 90 overall candidates, and one of only three from Georgia, selected for the South regional team for the Under Armour All-American camp that was held last week in Baltimore.
