LETTERS: Patriotism highlighted in July 4 paper

I hope that Daily Post readers took time to read pages 6A and 8A of the July 4th paper. The columns by Cal Thomas ("237 years of independence," July 4, 6A) andEsther Cepeda ("Revering the 'Star-Spangled Banner," July 4, 6A) both brought needed attention to our expanding lack of patriotism in this great country.

I also wish that the documented statements of our founding fathers on page 8A would be required reading in high school history class. I wonder if some of the water falling from heaven this Fourth of July was mixed with tear drops of our patriots who dedicated themselves to creating this once "shining star" called The United States?

When you see the fireworks celebrations, remember that those on the other side of the sky gave their all.

Isn't it funny how people fly flags to prove their patriotism then don't exercise their civic duty of voting. But don't vote blindly for a party without doing any research to learn about the issues and the candidates. An uninformed vote is worse than no vote at all.
