Bank robbery suspect uses smoke bombs

SNELLVILLE -- Two smoke bombs aided a bank robber's escape on Tuesday morning as he left a Wells Fargo branch.

The incident began at 10:58 a.m. when a black man entered the branch at 3520 Centerville Highway in unincorporated Snellville, Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Ed Ritter said. The man ignited the devices, then demanded money from a teller before he ran out of the bank in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money.

Ritter said no injuries that required treatment were reported.

Gwinnett Police, Fire and Arson investigators and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms investigated the incident.
