More rain expected, flood watch extended

The National Weather Service extended a flood watch through 8 p.m. Monday for Gwinnett and the surrounding metro-Atlanta area.

A persistent upper level low pressure area moving through the Ohio valley will keep abundant moisture across the area Monday evening.

Forecasters say that additional rainfall totals of one to two inches appear likely.

These amounts, combined with the heavy rain that has already fallen, can cause flooding. However, the National Weather Service says the main threat will be creeks, rivers and low-lying areas.
