Fort Yargo looking for help 'stomping in mud'

WINDER -- Not afraid to get your feet a little muddy? Fort Yargo State Park is looking for you.

It's time to replace the chinking -- the stuff between the logs -- on the park's "old fort." A group from Living History is making the chinking -- glorified mud, basically -- on-site on July 20 and 21.

Officials "would love to have everyone come out (that) weekend and help stomp in the mud," according to a news release. "Be prepared to get dirty."

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Saturday and participants are encouraged to camp overnight ($5 per tent).

"There will be a hayride to the beach several times during the day Saturday to help with cleanup," officials said. "Bring an instrument and let's have an evening of bonfire and music Saturday night!"
