SUWANEE -- As your summer garden reaches its peak, several canning and preserving classes are available this month to show you how to enjoy the bounty through the winter.
The Gwinnett Extension Office will put on a class at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Big Splash room in Suwanee's City Hall. The class is free and open to the public. It will include best practices for safe home canning and successful freezing.
The Extension Office will also have similar events at the Centerville Community Center in Snellville at 1 p.m. on Friday, and the Buford Human Services Center at 2:30 p.m. in Buford on July 24. Those events will include a seasonal recipe, a live demonstration and handouts. The Snellville event costs $1 cash in exact change, and seats need to be reserved by calling 770-985-4713. The Buford event costs $3 in exact change and reservations can be made by calling 770-614-2526.
