Berkeley Hills hosts Championships

With eight players who claim the course and 17 others from the county, Berkeley Hill Country Club will host it yearly stop on the Georgia section of the PGA's tour around the state.

The two-day tournament begins Monday with 8 a.m. tee times at the Duluth course and concludes Tuesday afternoon. The historic par 72 course plays at 6,612 yards from the championship tees offering a test for the field of professional and amateur field open to all Georgia PGA members and apprentices and all in-state amateurs.

Local golfers registered for the event included amateurs Matthew Mitchell from Dacula, Austin Coleman, Zach Healy, Kim Taehyung, Bailey Ulp and Gus Wagoner from Duluth, Evan Haas, Patrick Haas, Matt Luckett from Norcross, Rodes Bowers and Brooks Colquitt from Peachtree Corners and Michael Hinnant and Fred Rescigno Jr., from Suwanee. Gwinnett professionals include Sung Back from Duluth, Keith Roberts from Lawrenceville and Jost Nichols from Suwanee.

Defending champion and then head professional at Marietta Country Club Stephen Keppler from Kennesaw returns to defend his 11-under par title from a year ago.
