SUWANEE -- The Georgia SPCA is just a few clicks from winning a new van.
The nonprofit no-kill animal shelter is a finalist in an online contest to win a RAM ProMaster van, but leaders are asking for help from the local community to beat out the competition.
"It is only because our supporters have such big hearts ... and so many electronic devices," the organization's Jane Stewart said on the SPCA's website of making the top 10 in the national contest. "It would be a dream come true if we could win it."
The organization's current vehicle, which is used to transport animals from kill-shelters, to veterinarian facilities and adoption events, has about 200,000 miles on it and Stewart said it is in need of replacement.
"We desperately need a new van to continue the work that we do in Georgia to save homeless animals," Stewart said in an email, adding that the organization has saved more than 5,000 animals since opening its doors in Suwanee.
