Patterson switches to Armstrong Atlantic

SNELLVILLE -- After initially signing to play college baseball at Reinhardt University, recent South Gwinnett graduate Ryan Patterson has had a change of heart, and will now play at Division II powerhouse Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah.

The 6-foot, 210-pound outfielder/left-handed pitcher is coming off a strong senior season during the Comets' 21-9 campaign this spring, and will join a Pirates program that recent completed a 31-17 season that included a No. 22 national ranking and a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Patterson earned first-team All-County honors from the Daily Post this season after hitting .407 with seven HR, 37 RBIs, 28 runs scored and 15 stolen bases, while going 8-1 on the mound with a 1.80 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 50 innings.
