NORCROSS -- Have you ever dreamed of watching two of rock 'n' roll's famous piano players perform together? Well, it isn't actually Billy Joel and Sir Elton John that will perform in Norcross, but it will work.
On Friday, The Stranger, a Billy Joel cover group, and Ronnie "The Rocket Man" Smith, an Elton John performer, team up to replicate the duo's celebrated Face-2-Face concert. Joel and John originally started these tours in 1994, went on hiatus, then toured again in 2009.
Tonight, both men are on stage together, facing-to-face while dueling pianos and playing their hits.
The public is invited to grab chairs and blankets, a picnic and drinks (no glass allowed, though) to lay in the grass for a free show of rock 'n' roll covers, party favorites and classic hits from two "legendary" performers.
Tables are available for rent for the evening, if sitting in the grass isn't your thing. A table of six is $60 per concert and eight people is $70. To reserve a spot, call the city of Norcross' Parks and Rec Department at 678-421-2000 or 678-421-2010.
The next show is July 19 with Natalie Stovall, a country fiddle player.
The concerts are CAN DO events, so attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food to the event. All of the collected items will be donated to local food pantries.
