Marshall Morgan, a sophomore kicker on University of Georgia's football team, was arrested over the weekend for boating under the influence on Lake Sinclair.
According to media reports, Morgan was charged with operating a watercraft under the influence and towing a skier without a life preserver on board. He was released Saturday at 10:35 p.m. on $1,724 bond.
Georgia Department of Natural Resources Ranger Cpl. Lynn Stanford told the Eatonton Messenger that Morgan admitted to drinking and agreed to a field sobriety test. Stanford said Morgan’s test showed a substantial enough level of alcohol to make an arrest.
A spokesman for the University of Georgia said that head coach Mark Richt was aware of the situation. No reports of a suspension have been announced.
According to Sports Illustrated, Morgan appeared in all 14 games as a freshman for Georgia last year, converting 8-of-14 field goal attempts and 63-of-67 extra points.
The Bulldogs open the 2013 season on Aug. 31 at Clemson.
