Museum to be open Sundays in February

BUFORD -- Gwinnett's nature museum will be open every day in February.

This month, the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center in Buford will open for Funday Sundays, adding special new hours for visitors.

"The GEHC is so excited to open its doors on Sundays in February. We think it is great to give the community another opportunity to see what we are all about," said Jason West, director of programming and development.

The additional hours -- 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays -- will give people a chance to view the center's new travelling exhibit, Peanuts...Naturally, seven days a week. The exhibit, organized by the Charles Schulz Museum and Research Center in California, uses the Peanuts comic strips to focus on nature and help guests interact with fun exhibit stations.

The Peanuts exhibit opens on Saturday. The display takes a look at Charles Schulz's exploration of the natural world through the famous comic strips, videos, objects and interactive stations and runs through April 28.

This month also features a photography exhibit from local middle and high school students, Shutter Sense and Nonsense, beginning Feb. 9.

On Funday Sundays, the center's e-Planetarium will have two showings, a press release added.

The GEHC is also open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Admission ranges from free to $7.50, based on age. Visit www.gwinnettEHC.org for more information about Funday Sundays and other programming offered at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center.
