SUWANEE — Due to stormy weather, some students traveling on school buses this afternoon might have been slightly delayed arriving home, according to a spokesman with Gwinnett County Public Schools.
“Parents should be aware that some of our school buses might be running late as school bus drivers are taking extra precaution transporting students home this afternoon,” said Jorge Quintana, a spokesman for GCPS.
As of late afternoon, after-school activities were still scheduled.
Activities Wednesday at Anderson-Livsey and Puckett’s Mill elementary schools, however, were cancelled.
Parents with questions about the status of their activities should check their local school’s web site.
They can be found at www.gwinnett.k12.ga.us.
Earlier Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch over much of the area, which is in effect until 8 p.m.
Forecasters said a storm system approaching Georgia could bring the threat of widespread damaging winds and isolated tornadoes to the state.
