LAWRENCEVILLE -- The school district's best spellers are set to compete Saturday during the Gwinnett County Public Schools annual bee.
The 2013 Gwinnett Spelling Bee, put on by the Gwinnett County Association of Educators and sponsored by the Daily Post, will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Central Gwinnett High School.
The top spellers will move on to represent GCPS in the District 3 Bee
Registration for Saturday's event is scheduled for 7:15 a.m.
The oral portion of the bee will start about 30 minutes after the written portion of the bee.
Last year, Duluth homeschooler Lexine Feng, 9, made it all the way to the state spelling bee, winning third place in the Georgia Association of Educators' state qualifier for the Scripps National Spelling bee. She and fellow Gwinnettian Kelsey Dabrowski, 14 of Berkmar Middle battled it out with 18 others participating in the bee.
Central Gwinnett High School is located at 564 W. Crogan St., Lawrenceville.
