PREP ROUNDUP: Shiloh girls top Central for first win

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Shiloh snapped its 16-game losing streak on Tuesday night with a 54-46 defeat of Central Gwinnett for its first win of the season.

Kaylen Ward led Shiloh (1-16, 1-11) with 18 points, nine rebounds and two steals, while Bria Ratliff followed with 13 points and four rebounds.

Central fell to 13-8 overall and 7-6 in Region 8-AAAAAA.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Brookwood 44, South 26

SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood played a strong game defensively on Tuesday night as the Broncos downed South Gwinnett 44-26 in a Region 8-AAAAAA game.

Taryn Dennie and Courtney Gardner each scored 12 points to lead Brookwood (14-9, 8-6) in scoring, with Dennie leading the team in rebounds with eight. Rebecca Walker also had a solid game for Brookwood with eight points, seven rebounds and five blocks.

South (13-9, 8-5) was led by 13 points from Arielle Harvey.

Berkmar 67, Grayson 50

LILBURN -- Berkmar improved to 11-11 overall and 7-7 in Region 8-AAAAAA with a 67-50 win over Grayson on Tuesday night.

Daijah Cooke led the Patriots with 20 points, while Amy Adame added 17 points and six assists. Nina Williams also played well, logging 14 points, eight assists, six rebounds and five steals.

Grayson (1-11, 4-16) was led by 12 points from Courtney Deckard.

Norcross 74, Habersham 46

NORCROSS -- Diamond DeShields of Norcross flirted with a triple-double on Tuesday night with 26 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists as the Blue Devils rolled to a 74-46 win over Habersham Central.

Shayla Cooper added 10 points and 11 rebounds for Norcross, which improved to 18-4 overall and 12- 1 in Region 7-AAAAAA. Cooper and Deshields were also each honored after the game for being nominees to play in the McDonald's All-American game.

Kolby Meeks also had 11 points for Norcross, while Bri Williams added eight points and seven assists. The loss dropped Habersham to 14-8 overall and 5-8 in the region.

Duluth 70, Mountain View 48

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Katie Powell of Duluth poured in 33 points on Tuesday night as the Wildcats topped Mountain View 70-48 in a Region 7-AAAAAA game. Powell also added 20 rebounds and seven blocks.

Alyah McGriff and Joi Jones also helped in the win with 11 points each. Duluth improved to 15-7 overall and 9-4 in the region.

Mountain View (13-7, 5-7) received 10 points each from Jordan Stallworth and Iceis Walker.

Lanier 64, Walnut Grove 30

SUGAR HILL -- Lanier continued its strong play in Region 8-AAAA on Tuesday night with a 64-30 win over Walnut Grove.

Four Longhorns (8-13, 4-1) scored in double figures, led by 22 points and five assists from Shelby Threlkeld. Tamar Osborne, Amber Cesair and Lauren Brown also added 10 points each, while Cesair grabbing five rebounds and Brown dishing five assists.

Lanier also distributed the ball well on offense, tallying 18 assists.

Buford 38, White Co. 27

CLEVELAND -- Kristina Nelson scored 21 points on Tuesday night in leading Buford to a 38-27 win over White County in a Region 7-AAA game.

The win bolstered Buford's record to 15-4 overall and 10-0 in the region.

Providence 44, Athens Academy 33

LILBURN -- Providence improved to 8-1 in Region 8B-A on Tuesday night by holding off Athens Academy 44-33, stretching its winning streak to eight.

Aubrey Gold led the Storm (13-6 overall) with 19 points, while Jessie Kowalewicz added 12 points.

Hebron 46, Athens Christian 32

DACULA -- Hebron improved to 10-11 overall and 6-4 in Region 8-A with a 46-32 win over Athens Christian on Tuesday night.

Amber Skidgel accounted for over half the offense for Hebron with 24 points, while Hannah Lentz added nine points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Shiloh 71, Central 56

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Nate Mason of Shiloh logged 22 points and seven rebounds on Tuesday night as the Generals posted a 71-56 win over Central Gwinnett in Region 8-AAAAAA.

Trayvon Reed also had a big game for the Generals (16-5, 10-2) with 16 points and 16 rebounds.

Central (10-12, 4-9) was led by a game-high 23 points from Brian Egejuru, while Slim Delridge logged 10 points.

Berkmar 60, Grayson 52

LILBURN -- Kip Patton of Berkmar scored 16 points on Tuesday night in leading the Patriots to a 60-52 win over Grayson in Region 8-AAAAAA.

Malcolm Hannah added 15 points for Berkmar (12-10, 8-6), while C.J. Foster rounded out the scoring with 12 points.

Grayson dropped to 11-10 overall and 4-8 in the region.

South 64, Brookwood 44

SNELLVILLE -- South Gwinnett upped its mark to 9-13 overall and 5-8 in Region 8-AAAAAA with a 64-44 win over Brookwood on Tuesday night.

Brandon Williams led the Comets in scoring with 16 points, while KV Walker chipped in with 13 points.

Brookwood slipped to 16-7 overall and 8-6 in region play.

Norcross 62, Habersham 32

NORCROSS -- Norcross rolled to a 62-32 win over Habersham Central on Tuesday night in a Region 7-AAAAAA game.

Andre Chatfield led the Blue Devils (16-6, 11-2) with 17 points, while Ricky Madison followed with 15 points.

Habersham (4-18, 1-12) was led by 12 points from Conner McCullough.

Duluth 57, Mountain View 31

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Duluth went on a 20-5 run in the third quarter to pull away for a 57-31 win over Mountain View on Tuesday night in Region 7-AAAAAA.

Duluth (12-10, 4-9) was led by 12 points from Ify Imachukwu, while Kai Lambert helped with 11 points.

Andre Joseph was the top scorer for Mountain View (2-18, 0-12) with 12 points.

Lanier 66, Walnut Grove 53

SUGAR HILL -- Lanier benefited from a balanced attack on offense on Tuesday night as the Longhorns downed Walnut Grove 66-53 in Region 8-AAAA action.

Three Longhorns (13-9, 4-1) scored in double figures, led by 14 from Simon Shafack. Jordan Harper followed with 12 points, while Paul Webb scored 10.

Buford 68, White Co. 39

CLEVELAND -- Buford won its 12th straight game on Tuesday night with a 68-39 win over White County in Region 7-AAA.

Kyle Doyle led the Wolves (16-5, 10-0) with 15 points, while Isaiah Williams added 13 points.

White County was led by 10 points from Jordan Egerton.

Providence 49, Athens Academy 40

LILBURN -- Charlie Scott of Providence led all players with 16 points on Tuesday night as the Storm held off Athens Academy 49-40 in a Region 8B-A game.

Robbie Clark also added 10 points as Providence upped its record to 9-10 overall and 7-2 in the region.

Hebron 52, Athens Christian 40

DACULA -- Hebron upended Athens Christian 52-40 on Tuesday night for a win in Region 8-A.

Leading scorer for the Lions (7-13, 4-6) was Tyler Skidgel with 18 points, while Cory Johnson followed with 11 points.
