Authorities believe a Lilburn man was murdered by his son while visiting his North Carolina home.

Emergency personnel responded to the Etowah, N.C., home of 44-year-old Michael Stephen Walker at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday, after Walker reportedly called 911 to report that his father had suffered a heart attack. According to Capt. Frank Stout of the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, Walker advised that he and his father -- 71-year-old Lilburn resident Gerald "Jerry" Walker -- "had been in a physical altercation approximately 10 minutes before he called 911 and his father must have had a heart attack."

That story, though, didn't add up, authorities said.

"Deputies immediately smelled a strong odor of bleach and inconsistencies in the time with regards to the victim's condition and the alleged heart attack," Stout said.

Walker was ultimately arrested and charged with his father's murder and is being held without bond.

An autopsy to determine the exact cause of death has been scheduled, Stout said.

No other information was available Tuesday.
