In a battle of dual state champions, Archer defeated host Pope 34-19 on Saturday.
Archer, the Class AAAAAA state champion, is ranked No. 49 in the nation and Pope, the Class AAAAA state champ, is ranked No. 34.
Winners for the Tigers (31-0) were Vinny Artigues, DaQuan Olbert, Sam Bullard, Chris Diaz, Daniel Bullard, Thomas Bullard, Elliot Lee and M.J. Couzan. Defending state Champion Ernest Alexander did not wrestle because he was taking the SAT.
GAC wins trio of matches
NORCROSS — Greater Atlanta Christian had six wrestlers go undefeated as it won three duals on Saturday. The Spartans (23-7) defeated Wheeler 51-20, Mountain View 38-24 and Woodland-Stockbridge 53-27.
Brandon Bradley (113 pounds), Kyle Politz (120), Carter Clinebell (132), Rory Alston (170), Hunter Martin (182) and Mitchell Shea (195) were 3-0. Politz, Alston and Shea each had two pins, while Bradley and Clinebell each had a pin and major.
