NORCROSS -- A Sunday night house fire in Norcross likely began in the home's fireplace.
Gwinnett County fire spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said firefighters responded to the 5800 block of Dana Drive at about 10 p.m. Sunday, finding flames showing from the right side of the split-level home. Crews were able to bring the blaze under control quickly by making an aggressive interior attack.
"The fire caused heavy damage to the area of origin and sent smoke throughout," Rutledge said.
That area of origin is believed to be the fireplace.
"The occupant reported having a fire in the fireplace earlier in the day," Rutledge said.
No injuries were reported.
