With Georgia Gwinnett College opening its first spring season of varsity tennis, baseball and softball, the school will host a First Serve Celebration on Friday before the Grizzlies' first-ever men’s tennis match.
The event will take place at the GGC Tennis Facility at 100 Countryside Place, just north of the GGC main campus off Collins Hill Road in Lawrenceville. The Grizzlies' tennis, baseball and softball teams will be introduced and available to sign team posters.
The event will begin at 1:30 p.m., just before the men’s tennis match against Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) at 2 p.m.
GGC fans, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to come celebrate the student-athletes and cheer on the Grizzlies as the men’s tennis team takes the courts for the very first time. Admission is free and parking is available at the GGC Tennis Facility.
Georgia Gwinnett College president Daniel Kaufman and Darin Wilson, director of athletics, are expected to address the crowd and kick off the spring season. The Grizzlies are slated to begin their first season of intercollegiate competition in baseball and softball on Feb. 9, followed by the debut of women’s tennis on Feb. 11.
