DULUTH -- During this tough economy, everyone is struggling to find new jobs, including veterans of the military. On Tuesday, Combined Insurance is hosting a Hiring Our Heroes event at Duluth's American Legion Post 251 in an effort to help reduce the unemployment rate for the vets.
"We have found that military veterans can make great employees, especially for our industry," said Joseph Pennington, USN retired and military recruiting coordinator for Combined Insurance. "They are responsible, hard-working, disciplined and dedicated to helping others. We are excited and look forward to meeting with and finding some excellent candidates at the Hiring Our Heroes job fair at the American Legion Post 251 in Duluth, Ga."
From 9 a.m. to noon, military veterans can apply for positions with Combined Insurance. The company plans to hire 1,000 vets in the future through nationwide job fairs.
Hiring Our Heroes is a nationwide initiative to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment, was launched in March of 2011 by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's National Chamber Foundation.
American Legion Post 251 is located at 2760 Ga. Highway 120 in Duluth.
