Supposed bank robbery a misunderstanding

SUGAR HILL -- When police arrived at a local bank Saturday afternoon, they were ready for a serious situation.

Officials with the Gwinnett County Police Department showed up about 3 p.m. at the Chase Bank on Suwanee Dam Road in response to a robbery in progress.

Police Officer Jeffery Richter said it was actually a misunderstanding, and nothing more.

"It turned out to be nothing," Richter said. "We're glad it was nothing more than a miscommunication, because it doesn't always turn out that way."

Richter said the 9-1-1 call came from the bank "right around their closing time."

No further details were available, because no incident report was filed. There were no arrests made.

I got a call one day to a hold up in progress at the drive through window. WHAT!!!!!!!! How do you do that. The two guys drove off before I got there. Of course the teller got a great description of the vehicle. The guy was wearing a mask. When we found the car and the two guys he was still wearing the mask!!! He had been wearing it for weeks. It was one of those flesh colored things that severely burned people wear. Well, it was a mask and it scared the teller.
