WINDER -- Barrow County Emergency Services recently received a grant to help with its fire prevention education efforts.
The department was awarded a $1,700 grant from FM Global -- a property insurance, risk management and loss prevention company -- that will be used to help with demonstrations for the public and other activities, spokesman Lt. Scott Dakin said.
"This grant will be utilized to purchase a laptop, camera and accessories for our efforts in this area," Dakin said. "We are honored to have received this grant award from FM Global."
The award will allow the department to develop fire and life safety presentations that are specific to Barrow County and the residents they are presenting to, officials said, as well as help keep residents better informed about the department.
Battalion Chief Rob Nowakowski wrote the application for the grant.
