LAWRENCEVILLE -- With several upcoming events and activities, the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter is looking for volunteers.
Gwinnett Police Cpl. Jake Smith said the shelter's goal is to increase the number of adoptions from the shelter and reduce euthanasia. For daily needs, volunteers are needed to walk dogs, help with cats and kittens, clean and sanitize, assist people looking to adopt, help with off-site adoption events, handle clerical duties and do landscaping.
Volunteers must be 18 years old, pass a background check and be familiar and comfortable with animals.
Operation hours for the shelter are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. It's closed on Monday.
For more information, contact volunteer coordinator Lt. Christina Schiralli, at 770-513-5506 or by email at policevolunteers@gwinnettcounty.com.
