James Bartow “Jimmy” Jenkins, Jr., age 61, of Dacula, Georgia entered into rest on Monday, January 14, 2013 after a gallant fight to liver cancer. He is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Cheryl Ash Jenkins; son, James Bartow Jenkins, III, U.S. Navy; daughter, Ashley “Ashie” Jenkins (“The Apple of His Eye”); daughter, Heather Chander (Mahesh) and their daughter, Lana; step-mother, Mary Anne Jenkins; three sisters, Robin Jenkins and her daughter Kathryn; Nancy Dutton (Don) and her three children, Christine (and daughter Lucy), Katelyn, & Charlie; Lauren McDougald (Mike) and two children, Chase & Spencer; brother-in-law, Phil Ash and his son Stephen Ash and Phil’s daughter, Amanda Adams (James) and their children, Alexis, Hunter, & Tristan; other relatives and a host of many friends. Jimmy was predeceased by his mother, Belva Jenkins; father, Bartow Jenkins; and his devoted sister, Jennifer Jenkins Ash. Jimmy was born on June 10, 1951 in Alabama and was a 1969 graduate of Central Gwinnett-Lawrenceville High School where he played football. He enjoyed reading, making people laugh, spending time with family, and was a member at Hebron Baptist Church. Jimmy was totally devoted to his family and was a committed and loyal friend. He will be greatly missed for his contagious laugh and outgoing personality. A Memorial Service Celebrating the Life of Jimmy Jenkins will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel with Rev. Gerald Hudlow officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00 P.M. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
