LAWRENCEVILLE -- Sheriff's deputies took nearly three dozen alleged criminals off the streets of Gwinnett Tuesday night as part of a county-wide warrant sweep.
Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Sean Smith said more than 40 deputies split into two teams participated in the sweep Tuesday, targeting approximately 381 outstanding warrants for the arrest of 299 individuals.
"During the operation 179 attempts were made, 42 warrants were cleared and 34 persons were arrested," Smith said.
Smith said the sweep spread across the county. Arrests were on a wide range of charges, including obstruction, marijuana possession, probation violation, battery and hit and run, Smith said.
