STONE MOUNTAIN -- A 2010 Honda Fit that was stolen early Saturday morning in unincorporated Stone Mountain has been recovered in Atlanta after a joint effort by Gwinnett and Atlanta Police.
Gwinnett Police Cpl. Jake Smith said another stolen vehicle, a 2005 Suzuki Forenza, was left at the Walmart Supercenter in Stone Mountain where an armed robbery and shooting occurred at 2:50 a.m. on Saturday. Two white males, ages 20 and 35, were victimized by two black males who stole one man's keys and wallet, and the Honda.
The 35-year-old victim is a Walmart employee who only speaks Albanian, Smith said, and didn't understand what happened during the incident.
The suspects fled the scene in the car at a high rate of speed, Smith said. One of the victims was transported to Gwinnett Medical with a non-life threatening injury after he was shot in the thigh.
Both stolen vehicles have been recovered, Smith said, along with a handgun that matched the description of the gun used in the incident.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (404) 557-TIPS (8477) or Gwinnett Police detectives at 770-513-5300.
